AUBURN _ On Monday, Sept, 22, 2014 South County Physical Therapy, Inc. (SCPT) will be a Partnership Sponsor of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce’s 20th Annual School/Business Partnership Golf Tournament. The Tournament will be held at the Heritage Country Club on Sampson Road in Charlton. Tee time for the Florida-style/Scramble Tournament is 10 a.m. with registration beginning at 9 a.m.
Each year all proceeds from the Tournament fund scholarships for graduating high school seniors living in Auburn, scholarships for member businesses, and mini-grants for Auburn and Bay Path Regional educators.
“South County Physical Therapy has been a sponsor for all 20 years of the School/Business Partnership Golf Tournament,” said Eleanor Houbre, Director of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. “We’re very grateful for South County’s support.”
According to Houbre, SCPT has been a committed member of the Chamber and the community well beyond the years of the golf tournament. Its Founder, Cathy Hoover-Smith, has been a dedicated member of the Chamber and is a regular speaker at Chamber events.
“Melodie Hanks (SCPT’s CFO) is also on the School/Business Partnership Committee and she is the main liaison for Julie Bancroft Elementary School. She lets us know what the school’s needs are and, in addition, she participates in reviewing the mini-grant and scholarship applications,” Houbre added.
“Our organization is proud to have supported this Tournament and the Auburn Chamber for many years. As in year’s past, we will also have a South County team participating in the Tournament,” said SCPT Executive Director, Eric Cardin. “Our main office is in Auburn and supporting the communities we live and work in is one of our company’s core values.“
Golfing is intrinsic to SCPT, which offers a Golf Program that provides expert care for both the injured golfer and those seeking injury prevention. SCPT’s Golf Program’s staff is certified by the Titleist Performance Institute, the world’s leading educational organization and research facility dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.
“Golf performance is directly related to physical health, whether you are a high handicapper or a scratch golfer,” said Carla Faucher, Assistant Director at the SCPT Auburn location and the Golf Program Coordinator.
“We can help the injured or post-surgical golfer return to the golf course,” Faucher added. “We also specialize in the rehabilitation of golfers who have undergone total joint replacement.”
“Whether you are interested in playing in a tournament or just hacking around on the front nine, our program is designed to keep you playing,” Cardin said.
