WESTBOROUGH _ June is National Men’s Health Month and South County Physical Therapy, Inc. (SCPT) is doing its part to keep men healthy by offering free movement screens throughout the month of June.

National Men’s Health Month is an annual initiative designed to increase awareness of preventable health issues and promote early detection and treatment of disease amongst men and boys.

According to the Men’s Health Network and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), “Women are 100% more likely to visit the doctor for annual examinations and preventive services than men.”

Men are encouraged to schedule doctor’s appointments for annual physicals each June during National Men’s Health Month, as an easy reminder for routine visits.

For an aging man, a movement screen can be a preventive tool to evaluate the body’s mechanics through everyday activities.  SCPT’s expert physical therapists conduct movement screens to assess how an individual’s movements are affected by their muscles, joints, posture, and more on a biomechanical level. A course of correction is then customized to offer greater ease and comfort in movement.

“In support of National Men’s Health Month, SCPT is pleased to offer men throughout the region an opportunity to schedule a free movement screen at any of our six locations,” said SCPT Executive Director Eric Cardin. “We’re here to learn about your problem areas, aches and pains, goals and challenges. And through assessing the mechanics of movement, we can offer suggestions to help you improve your golf game, gain greater flexibility, or simply hit your stride.”
