MILLBURY _ South County Physical Therapy, Inc. (SCPT) recently announced the appointment of Jayme Protano as the Director of its Millbury location on 73 Canal Street.
A resident of Northbridge, Protano has been a physical therapist at SCPT’s Auburn facility for the last five years, before being named to run the Millbury location. She is a graduate of NortheasternUniversity, Boston, with a degree in Physical Therapy.
“I started my new position on January 20 and it’s been just great. I now spend one to two hours a day doing administrative work and the rest of the time I am working directly with patients, which is the best part of the job for me,” Protano said.
Her love for physical therapy came early in her life, when a high school sports injury sent her to physical therapy.
”I was inspired by both the patients and therapists I observed while doing my own physical therapy. I knew I wanted to go into the medical field and physical therapy seemed like a great fit for me,” she said. ”I am inspired daily by my co-workers at SCPT. I learn new things every day from the excellent therapists with whom I work.”
Protano, similar to the other physical therapists at SCPT, is physically active in her personal life, playing on both an indoor and outdoor women’s soccer team. She also practices and teaches yoga and runs. This past year, Protano joined the South County Relay for Life Team and plans on participating again this year.
“We’re excited to promote Jayme to our administrative leadership team. She brings an incredible skill set to SCPT and the Millbury location,” said SCPT Executive Director Eric Cardin.
The Millbury facility treats more than 100 patients weekly with a staff of three physical therapists, one physical therapy assistant, two rehabilitation aides, and three administrative staff members. Protano can be reached at the Millbury office at 508-581-8703.
